The store, notorious for its overflowing shelves, sold alcohol to 14 year old in February 2011 and and again in October 2011.

The workers who sold the alcohol were both fined £80 each.

Many residents on Kennet Island have already expressed their disatisfaction in the store due to it’s lack of stock and promises to resolve issues appear to have been broken.  That said, many retail stores are finding footfall to be lower than previous years and with Morrisons just around the corver offering the same products at a fraction of the price, you can’t blame residents for not supporting the store.  For Hudsons, it must be a vicious circle – they can’t replenish the shelves as residents have lost faith in the store and therefore not spending money to add to its cashflow and without cashflow, you can’t replenish the shelves.

I hope the new manager, even with splitting his time between London and Kennet Island, is able to resolve issues within the store so that the Convenience Store is able to serve it’s purpose for residents of Kennet Island.

Affectionately known as 'The Island', Kennet Island features a Central Piazza enhanced with Modern Water features, Surrounding the Piazza you will find the Island Lounge, Kennet Island Gym, A unisex Hair Salon, and a local corner shop.

There are also a number of other businesses operating from within the Island, Expressions Travel, The Hilton Hotel (also featuring a resturant, and Livingwell Gym)

Kennet Island will soon be seeing a private hospital, Boules Green, Nature Reserve and various parks.

Set amongst tree-lined boulevards, 'The Island' is designed to inspire without intimidation, to be on a human scale and offer a sense of purpose. Kennet Island which is located on the A33 within the M4 Corridor is only the beginning of the "Reading Southside" regeneration.
